Rockin’ Rides II – Circle K and Riff Raff Car Club Team to Support Red Cross

The only thing hotter than the outside temperatures were some of the cars and motorcycles that showed up at the second annual Rockin’ Rides Old School Car and Custom Bike Show.

On Sunday, June 2, 2013, Circle K West joined with Riff Raff Car Club to once again bring Rockin’ Rides to Sacramento. Classic car and bike aficionados from around the region descended on Sacramento’s Hemlock Square for a day of fun in the sun with some truly awesome rides, great music, and plenty of food. Capital Region and KCRA 3 Team Up for Oklahoma Tornado Relief Telethon

telethon2On Wednesday, May 22, 2013, in the wake of the devastating tornado that roared through Moore, Oklahoma, the American Red Cross Capital Region Chapter partnered with KCRA 3 Sacramento to host a fundraising telethon to support the disaster relief efforts. Volunteers from the Red Cross and several local organizations – PG & E, Grainger, Vision Service Plan, Servpro, Cal EMA, and more – answered calls from viewers looking to get involved and help Oklahomans get back on their feet. Sixth Annual Tea Affaire – Vintage High Tea

It was a trip back in time as ladies gathered for an afternoon of fun, fashion, and high spirits for the Sixth Annual Tiffany Tea Affaire. This vintage high tea event, an endeavor of the Tiffany Circle and Legacy Society, welcomed women from throughout the Capital Region to the Sacramento estate of Judy and John Reynan in celebration of the dedicated work of the American Red Cross.

Volunteers Needed for Northern California Fire Season

firepicAn exceptionally dry winter and a fast-approaching California summer can mean only one thing – a very busy fire season. In anticipation of a season sure to keep first responders on their toes throughout the state, the American Red Cross is looking for volunteers to aid in disaster response.

The American Red Cross of Northeastern California will conduct five (5) volunteer orientations in the coming weeks, which will provide new volunteers with an overview of the Red Cross, its programs and services, and an opportunity to help communities respond to and recover from potential wildfire emergencies. Local Heroes of Calaveras and San Joaquin County Honored by Red Cross

heroesawardsHeroes. Ordinary people performing extraordinary acts. They don’t do it for recognition or accolades, but rather simply because it needs to be done.

This was a common theme running through the 11th Annual Red Cross Heroes event, held Wednesday, April 10 at Wine and Roses in Lodi, CA. This year’s Heroes event honored 21 local heroes from Calaveras and San Joaquin counties for their selfless actions and offered an opportunity to recognize the heroism that surrounds us everyday.

Nominated by friends, family, and community members, and applauded by a reception hall filled to capacity, this year’s heroes humbly accepted recognition for acts they felt were simply their duty to perform. From performing lifesaving CPR to donating bone marrow, from honoring and assisting military veterans to creating a student project that reaches out to the community, the spotlight shined brightly on heroes of all ages for their efforts which have left a lasting impact on those they have helped and the communities in which they live. This annual event offers a unique opportunity for Red Crossers from around the state to interface and network with each other and receive updates on key activities in California, while also providing an education on legislative processes and direct contact with local elected officials. heroesOn Wednesday, April 10, the American Red Cross will honor 19 community members from San Joaquin and CalaverasCounties who have performed extraordinary acts of courage. These outstanding individuals will be recognized at the annual Heroes Breakfast at Wine and Roses in Lodi, beginning at 7:30am.

This annual event pays special tribute to local everyday heroes who have performed heroic acts. This year’s honorees were nominated by members of the community for such selfless deeds as spearheading a student community project, honoring fallen soldiers through volunteer efforts, donating bone marrow, performing life saving CPR, and much more. “Angels in the Alley” Brings Celebrities, Bowling, and Family Fun to Strikes Unlimited

bowling3Bowling spirits were high and full throttle on Saturday, March 9, as celebrities, volunteers, and fun seekers of all ages decended on Strikes Unlimited in Rocklin, CA for the First Annual Angels in the Alley Celebrity Bowling Tournament, benefitting the American Red Cross!

More than 300 bowlers turned out for an afternoon of fun for the whole family, featuring numerous local and national celebrities and a wide range of bowling “skills”. Thanks to the generosity of participants and over 40 sponsors, the First Annual event raised nearly $7,000 for the Red Cross.
